DLP Exam Structure
DLP Exams have two different streams:
Pravesha to Kovida Certifications - These exams are based on Samskrita Bharati published books, such as Pravesha, Parichaya, Shiksha, and Kovida. The certificates obtained from these exams enable students to pursue advanced studies and degrees. More details about this stream are provided in the sections below:
Bhashapravesha Certifications - These exams are based on Samskrita Bharati published books, such as GitaPravesha (Vol 1) and Bhasha Pravesh (Vol 1 and Vol 2).
More on Pravesha to Kovida Exams:
After carefully reviewing the feedback from several students regarding the DLP Exam Structure in the US, the SBDLP has introduced a new alternate exam structure to the students, effective with the May 2024 exam cycle.
The traditional DLP Exam structure will allow students to take the Pravesha, Parichaya, Shiksha, and Kovida exams sequentially and obtain relevant certifications.
The optional exam structure is described below:
The alternate exams are meant for the students who are more interested in studying/improving their Samskritam language skills rather than obtaining certificates for advanced degrees (using Samskritam as a medium of instruction) or for any other reasons.
The alternate exams will be named differently and are evaluated by book content (rather than being tested for expertise). It is meant to simply assess their progress.
Bhasa - equivalent to Pravesha.
Valmiki - equivalent to Parichaya
Vyasa - equivalent to Shiksha
Kalidasa - equivalent to Kovida
Alternate exam certifications are not sufficient for higher/advanced studies using Samskritam as a medium of instruction.
Alternate exam question papers will be in line with the content and exercises provided in the respective books.
The Exam fee for the optional exam is the same as the traditional exam fee.
The optional level exams cannot be converted to the regular exam scheme. One has to start from Pravesha to be certified for higher studies.
More on Bhashapravesha Exams:
For Samskritam students enrolled and studying at one of the Samskrita Kendrams / Bala Kendrams, they typically study various course materials, including Bhasha Pravesha-1 (L3), Bhasha Pravesha-2 (L4), and Gita Pravesha (L5).
Upon course completion, some of the Kendram teachers conduct an internal year-end evaluation of their students to ensure they can progress to the next level. However, these internal evaluations do not yield any formal certifications for the students.
For those who wish to get a formal "certificate", DLP is conducting annual exams for the following three levels:
भाषाप्रवेशः -१/गीतासोपानम् - १ -- for L3
भाषाप्रवेशः - २/गीतासोपानम् - २ -- for L4
गीताप्रवेश: - १ -- for L5
